There was a big of a kerfuffle when Apple denied some apps written for the iPhone 4 which simply turned on the flash and left it on - their inelegant answer was that it was "an inappropriate use of hardware." Ugh.

So a developer reached out directly to Phil Shiller and the denial was turned to acceptance. There are (at this moment) 7 apps at the store, all of them 0.99 except for Flashlight4G which is free. Excellent stuff - the flash is WAY brighter than a full white screen.
