Bet I'm the only one here who ever used an Apple I.  Didn't build it, but did use it.

And I owned Apple II serial number 154.  Wish I still had it.  Hard to believe that was 34 years ago!

Started on an Apple ][ Plus and then an Apple ][e.  I've never actually seen an Apple I in person, damn it!

The punch is towards the top on either side so the disc is usually clear of it.  I remember my first hard drive - 10MB!  Damn that was slick.  But my first two tech-gasms were the addition of a single floppy drive making game copying far less painful.  Remember using locksmith and swapping out the game for the copy floppy every few sectors? 

But then came the big one.  I was noticing that more and more games had this annoying problem that rendered them unusable for me: Requires 64K of RAM.  FFS!  So I saved up or begged mom for the cash and experienced the wonders of a 16K RAM upgrade!  The Apple ][ Plus came with 48K.

i remember saving money all summer cutting grass for my apple//c  my dad even chipped  in it
was like 1400$  then the next summer the //gs came out and made me cry with that digital sound
and all hahahah 4 color strip poker,  lol@ swapping out disks and locksmith..

now i have asthma and no apple at all..


remember the tool that would write bad sectors because that was the only copy protection  some
offereed?  check sector 'x' for a bad sector....

i remember zork, hitchikers guide to the galaxy, translvania, ghostbusters,  swashbuckler, oregon trail, karateka, tapper, 4 color lo res strip poker..... after a while on swashbuckler, the backgrounds stopped changing..

dont forget to walk up to the princess in karateka, or she will be surprised and drop you dead
making you do it ALL over again.. not that you didnt have to go back to the beginning every time
any how.

when you get stuck coding, grab a beer and watch these
old school play throughs it'll quench your 'wish i still had my apple ' thirst.

Lol @ 4bit strip poker. I remember that. That was awful. Cool as a game of course, but even then, in lowres 4bit life, that sucked. Had nothing on real titties. Little red dot for a nipple. Hahahaha.

Love karateka!!  Damn I forgot how cheesy the sound was    That bull horned baddy was a tough one to kill as I recall.  Never saw the lo res strip poker though.  But Playboy for the Mac kicked serious ass.
