Hey Perk,

Per my brief comment about the mac mini as a HTPC, and mentioning digital out on the headphone jack...

yea, its apparently got Optical toslink built into it... lol. thats easy.

Headphone out / optical audio out port   
The headphone / line output jack accommodates digital optical audio output, analog audio output with a 24-bit, 44.1-192 kHz D/A converter, digital audio output up to 24-bit stereo and 44.1-192 kHz sampling rate and supporting encoded digital audio output (AC3 and DTS). For analog headphone / line output a standard audio cable with 3.5mm metal plug should be used. For digital audio, a standard toslink cable with a toslink mini-plug adapter can be used.

incidentally, the input socket is also toslink.

That is frickin' stellar. That does put the Mini square into my sites, since I'm looking for more overall capability upstairs than the @TV has ...

Thanks nuts. Superb find. Why doesn't Apple make more noise about this? Is it all stupidity, they don't know how to use/why to use their own stuff, or are they lying in wait for something to come...?
