So, my wife's mac blew up.
It ran tiger.

Bought a new one.
it runs leopard.

old files were copied over manual or reinstalled from scratch. didnt use the import voodoo.
there is 1 program that is now throwing an error, and I think its that the files have old permission keys or something.

is there a way to change the "owner" of the files on the the mac? I know its linux, but I am not sure how that works. I get the impression that the files have keys, like NTFS in windows, and that those keys become "invalid" when you move a file from one mac to another through abnormal channels... like drive a swap.

anyway i am probably completely wrong. but thats my best guess.

First thing to try is the disk utility (applications|utilities) - click on the named version of her hard drive, NOT the manufacturers label (you'll understand when you see it) - then click Repair Disk Permissions. It might take quite a while, but this usually fixes such issues.

If it's still doing it, post back and we'll try some more.

sudo chown/chmod with -r flag on affected directories?
