IMO, the iPhone is in a position that it does not need to worry about going extinct. We will see iPhones for a long long time, regardless of what product(s) G et al come up with.

But the ego sting of losing a couple rather than gaining ground is going piss Steveo off ... which is nothing but good for the consumer. "The next iPhone upgrade will be A+" - that's a quote I like reading.

Again did not read silly article.
Market share is BS.

5 years ago apple sold 10 smart phones, everyone else 0. 100% market share.
today sold 4M smart phones, competition sold 20M 20% market share.

But if apple makes $200 profit per phone while competition only makes $10.

Well you can except copy/paste innovation from Google yet again after those A+ upgrades. I wonder what happens to innovative people when they enter Mountain View? They just seem to disappear. Maybe it's why Sergey can't sleep.. copy/pasting can get rough when you realize there are somethings that can't be saved in clipboard.. like customer service.
