I wonder how easy the insurance company is to deal with if you actually have a claim.  They are happy to take your money, I'll bet that getting reimbursed for a loss is a painful, long and cumbersome process.  Anybody done it?

Here's a good comparison of Safari on the iPad 1 vs. iPad 2:  http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/12/browser-comparison-between-original-ipad-and-ipad-2/

actually, per perks post that i hadnt seen yet, squaretrade offers insurance. squaretrade is fairly reputable. But the one I mentioned, http://www.worthavegroup.com/ipad

I have heard that they are are pretty decent actually. no personal experience, other than buying insurance. But most things i have seen have been along the lines of, "i dropped my ipad in the kitchen, it shattered on the tile floor, and WAG approved a new purchase and reimbursed me immediately". Most are like that. a few had issues, but frankly it was things like, "i used it as a skateboard ramp, and they wouldnt give me a new one"

Re. Decision on 3G upgrade:

TOTALLY worth it for me. At 129 and another 25/month its pricey, but the convenience is very strong. I had several opportunities today alone where I would either have tried to get the answer with my iPhone or more specifically, fired up the MiFi and used the pad. the ability to simply pull over, get my answer and move on was, again for me, really a benefit.

Monday Sprint gets shut down.

Answering the original question posed by Dv8r, FOR ME the 2-300 was completely worth it. I really like the pad, it's much better smoother faster cooler than my last one and I have zero regrets. Would this transfer to someone for whom the 2-300 was more dear, or had no business case? I dunno, probably not. The iPad1 is still a really formidable device, although it'll quickly get outpaced this year by competitors (as well as Apple itself). For someone that uses the device as much as I do - I'd say its a slam dunk.

Kurdt: Safari posted a 699 for the peace keeper test. I'll do the other one in a bit.
That's pretty nice improvement. I just did the peacekeeper with my iPad 1 and got 425. So it's something like 0.8x faster. Hmm, now I'm intrigued.. Too bad there's no jailbreak yet so i won't be getting it no matter how good it is.

Now this is interesting. I just did the same test with 4.3.1 Safari on iPad 1. I got 455. That's only marginally better even there's suppose to be a much faster JS engine. Well, it doesn't seem to matter much then if webapps don't get Nitro.
