17 minutes in the presentation and I'm disappointed beyond words...

>disappointed
Haven't bothered to watch myself, just waiting for someone else to give me the bulleted points. Besides, fanboi will soon be posting and telling us how it's going to save earth and 3 or 4 neighboring planets.

Basically it's exactly what everyone feared.. it's just a bigger iPhone. There's NOTHING and I mean NOTHING innovative in it. It's just super-sized iPhone with modified iPhone OS. iPad doesn't bring ANYTHING at all that could save print media. The aspect ratio is wrong for movie watching but I guess you could manage if you are on the train or something. Presentation hasn't finished yet so I have some hope that there's "one more thing" but it looks pretty lame and truly not worth the hype it's been getting.

Price? If it's $200, then maybe the massive hype I've been forced to endure will be worth it. Otherwise, it's just an overgrown iTouch.

agreed. So far there is nothing at all to encourage me to get it. Email looks prettier, who gives a shit. Games in the house, thats what an xbox or a pc are for.
so far.... FAIL

So far I have really mixed feelings about this because despite I said it to be disappointment already I understand exactly why some people will love this device. But I just don't understand why I would want to get this? Games? Well, I haven't found a single good game on iPhone and I hate touch screen/accelorometer controls so no. Calendar, email so on? Got that on iPhone already. iBooks? Umm, I think probably too expensive just for ebook reader. iWork... laptop is for that.
This iPad just doesn't make any sense.

You're giving him an easy out.
So, what happens to Apple if everyone realizes this is another Newton?

So, what happens to Apple if everyone realizes this is another Newton? Nothing. Apple is doing good.

I dunno. In some ways, the iphone has made Apple dependent. It has hyped the ipad as the game-changer, the next-big-thing.

engadget: "So $499 for 16GB of iPad. That's our base model. 32GB is $599, 64GB is $799. 3G models cost an extra $130. $629, 729, and 829 with 3G."
$499 for iPad with 16GB and only wifi. Ok, no thanks, bye.

so far this is the Douche Pad, and i think they are done...
though the $30/mo for unlimited, unlocked, GSM 3g is pretty damn good.
$500 for wifi only version....

no front facing camera with a built in video chat client = FAIL price = fail no mention of multi-unit adhoc networking = FAIL
the ONLY thing that could possibly give this some legs would be background apps and NON-appstore apps, because I am sure it pounds the hell out of most netbooks.
