He Was Hannibal Lector is the truth. There're a lot of stories about me and my ex. There are definitely people that RELISH the opportunity to disparage the guy. And the apostles have canonized him, if not given him full sainthood already. I don't put much stock in either camp.
But it is certainly true that it takes a certain personality to do what he did. From my perspective, the world has been given a multitude of gifts that we would not have had, were it not for his genius and drive. And the cost of that was certainly a normal home life, love life and personality. I think we can be grateful for his time on the planet and still understand that to be who he was / do what he did was perfect enough.
