A couple friends have asked about purchasing AAPL. I won't advise because this has been one of the silliest rises of stocks I've seen in a long time. Insane. I love it, being a shareholder, but it's insane. They're still only at a $20 P/E and at the height of the dotBomb we had $30-$35 P/Es as a matter of course ... so they're not so overblown yet that it's stupid, but compared to the rest of the market at the moment, it's probably too high. It's pretty damn high.

Here's a great WSJ article that describes why to be wary and some of my largest long term concerns with Apple as well:

Conversely there's the items that make it feel like this ride is not over:

It's still high.

Rule #1 is buy low, sell high. Don't buy AAPL. Wait until it's low. There are plenty of stocks that are low (especially in the financial sector  Mobster)

That's exactly my point ... it's about time to sell methinks, although I must admit I'm crazy enough to ride it a little longer.

Actually, my rule is "Buy your losers, sell your winners." If you liked stock (x) at $100, you should REALLY love it when it hits $90.

Yeah precisely. I do this even with mutual fund portfolios in adjusting the allotment percentages towards the losing sectors and away from the winning sectors on a fairly regular basis.
