So, here in the US. What provider's use SIMS? Tmobile and AT&T, right?  Can you simply trim a Tmo SIM and use your Tmo smartphone's dataplan on the ipad?

I believe you can, however the antenna in the 'pad will only go to Edge on TMob. read a bit on it a little while ago.
