It is the most peculiar of solutions to me as well. A VM? Of course. Cloud into your Windows box? Certainly. But shutting down, then restarting as a completely different OS is just bizarre. I have a hard time understanding who would want such a thing (with the exception of mixed marriages, the members of which may wish to have an all-PC version of work stuff and their home stuff on OSX).
Tell you what though: Windows looks better on a Mac than it does on a normal PC

There are applications (I've run into several) which just don't work right in a VM environment, but will run under Boot Camp. Often these are apps that need to talk directly to external ports (e.g. USB) rather than through the OS or BIOS hooks that are supported by the VM software. Those apps are the only reason I'd ever use Boot Camp - and the whole process of rebooting into Windows is so onerous that I've found myself abandoning the apps that forced me to do so, even when such abandonment cost me significant money.
For Apple, Boot Camp was an easy way to get past the checklist item: "Can run Windows." I don't think they really care whether people use it or not.

Well, it does have a joystick. But it looks like something you win at a Star Trek convention. And with all that bling the battery life would produce a rather flaccid experience
Imagine when you forget to turn it off in a movie and not only the ringer goes off but the phone glows bright blue identifying your location to all, as candy is angrily hurled at your face - BOOOO!!!!
